Community Service

The Engaged Learning and Community Involvement (ELCI) office engages students in a variety of volunteer opportunities on and off campus. One-time and ongoing projects are available.

Community Service Opportunities
The ELCI office is where students can learn about volunteer opportunities and find help in planning service projects for their student organizations.  Volunteer opportunities are publicized via the online calendar, electronic billboards, information fairs, e-mail blasts, social media, and flyers. Sample projects include:

  • Blood drives
  • Mentoring at-risk kids
  • Fundraising for a cause
  • Home building/repairs for low income families
  • Food and clothing drives
  • Sorting and packing relief supplies
  • Nursing home visits
  • Developing green space
  • Recreational activities with children/youth
  • Serving meals at homeless shelters
  • Developing hiking trails
  • Tending a community garden

The ELCI office is a resource for student organizations on campus that want to create and engage in volunteer projects. Have you thought about volunteering, but you don’t know where to begin? Stop by the ELCI office and discuss the many opportunities for you and/or your organization to make a positive impact in the community.

Report of Group Volunteer Service Hours
Please print the Report of Group Volunteer Service Hours form when your group is doing a service event. Fill out the form after the service project and turn it into Donna Anderson in the ELCI office in NIcholson Center, second floor.  The service hours will be recorded and the event will go on students' Student Engagement Transcripts.
