At RMU learning happens both inside and outside of the classroom.  Engaged learning activities that take place outside of the classroom are captured on your Student Engagement Transcript (SET).  The SET, which is a companion to the academic transcript, is an official University endorsement of a student's leadership roles, community service hours, international study trips, internship experiences, and much more.

The SET will be provided to employers and graduate schools that request a copy of a student's academic transcript. Together, these two documents will demonstrate how a student applies what s/he learns in the classroom to situations s/he encounters beyond the classroom.

Undergraduates must complete any two of the first six major SET categories in order to graduate.  Beginning in fall 2019,     newly enrolled First-Year students and newly enrolled Transfer students must complete Professional Experience or Transcultural/Global Experiences or Undergraduate Research as part of the two-category graduation requirement.

Students who complete all seven SET categories are eligible for RMU's Renaissance Award, and are recognized at a reception each April.

Questions should be directed to Micah Thompson, Advisor: (412) 397-6430; thompsonm@rmu.edu or Donna Anderson, Senior Director:  (412) 397-6492; andersond@rmu.edu.

(For undergraduate students enrolled prior to the fall 2009 semester, participation in the SET program is voluntary.  For all new first-year students enrolled beginning with the fall 2009 semester and all transfer students beginning with the fall 2011 semester, participation is mandatory.)
